Weeks seem to be flying by! Since I started this blog, I have realized more deeply how quickly time flies by. We have already finished 3 months of school since Ahna turned 3.
We had family visiting us this past fortnight and the girls loved our little staycation closer to the beach. We also rammed in some learning before, during and after the trip because education is an atmosphere.
Nature study-
We got to hold and see a few caterpillars(dead and alive but dying) at the resort e stayed. They used pesticides on their flowering plants and that killed both caterpillars but we got to admire their beauty regardless. Another dead but beautiful concept was bracket fungi growing on a chopped wooden trunk which Ahna got to photograph along with her photographer aunt. There were plenty of nature walks, flower picking and play and beach visits too. Ahna has also been wanting a harvest basket and a gardening hat so we got her those to add excitement for harvest and she has been loving going out and getting leafy greens for meals.
Language-
Ahna enjoyed being read to by everyone in my family. She tries to work on some pre writing work regularly and is getting much better at her wavy lines(which has been our focus for this month) Of course there is a lot of this done outside books too.
Art-
Ahna has been enjoying painting at home. Her strokes are getting more refined and she is growing in her desire of coordinated painting. She has seen her dad paint objects and wants to try doing the same so we have been working on some of her colouring book sheets with paint brushes. She also attending an art workshop where she worked on 2 canvases.
Science/Geography-
She did an experiment of a volcano with her dad. They made the mountain together and worked on the eruption. The whole process probably took a couple hours and it created a great conversational learning environment over that span of time.
This is our gratitude jar which we do at night with Ahna. Just before going to bed, she thinks through her day and tells me 1 thing she is grateful for that day. I write it down and put it in there. We will revisit these every few months and read through them.
